Amed and Tulamben are alternative destinations of Kuta beaches in East Bali. Amed is a resort town that harks back to the early days in Kuta. Simple losmens and a couple of good, small hotels sit along the shady, grey sand beach. Snorkelling is popular in Amed. Tulamben is even quieter, but favourite with local divers.
Candi Dasa is the entryway to east Bali. The Bali beach here has been mostly washed away due to the heavy coral picking that used to provide a living for locals. This has now been stopped and tidal walls have been erected in an effort to restore the beach. Gradually the coral is returning, and Candi Dasa is just beginning as a popular tourist destination. Located 85 km north-east of the airport, on the east coast, Candidasa offers a good base for exploring east Bali. A low key, laid back place close to cultural treasures like Pura Besakih (Bali's Mother Temple) and Tenganan Village - a unique village belonging to the original surviving Bali Aga aboriginal communities. It has lots of rustic charm.
Formerly, the Bali beach was a relatively quiet area. Its image has improved dramatically with the opening of the beautiful Four Season's Resort and the Inter-Continental. From a sleepy cove then in the last couple of years, it has become even busier still with grilled seafood restaurants going up at a rapid pace along the beach, attracting local families and tourists in droves. Jimbaran is directly south of the airport, on the way from Denpasar towards Nusa Dua. The village of Jimbaran is the narrow neck of the island of Bali, and thus it has two remarkably different beaches. On the west, Jimbaran Beach faces the Jimbaran Bay, recently lined by new luxurious resorts. On the east, the beach faces the body of water sheltered by Benoa Harbor.
Bali's most popular Bali beach and number one party zone! The original surfers destination has expanded - absorbing neighbouring Legian, Tuban and Seminyak. Good surf, great nightlife,and a beach life that's unrivaled. If you want to be within walking distance of the party - this is place.uta proper remains the whitest stretch of sand and is a big draw for those who want to test their surfing skills with both a beach-break and a reef-break further out. Visitors, will never get bored in Kuta beach, there are a lot of fun and activities, from topless sunbathing, surfing, adventurous bungee jumping, shopping or people watching.
Near the northern tip of the island of Bali lies a stretch of villages by the Bali Sea that is called Lovina Beach. It is well known as an excellent site for sunset watching, snorkelling and diving. If you like what Kuta offers but do not like the crowd, Lovina Bali Beach is for you.
Nusa Dua beach of Bali beaches was designed for the luxury conscious with a heavy concentration of big name hotels lining the beautiful white sand beach. Some of the resorts have private beaches but most areas are accessible. Crystal clear water provides excellent Snorkelling and Diving site, and the waves on the northern and the southern part of Nusa Dua allow for great surfing opportunity.
Sanur was Bali's first beach resort but still retains its Balinese character and old style village ambiance. It's also the place for some of Bali's chic fashion shops, hot hotels and well-known restaurants. A good location to explore the rest of Bali. The village of Sanur, Bali's largest traditional village, located on the eastern coast of Bali is the ideal Bali beach for snorkelling as it is protected by a coral reef. Sanur beach is easily reachable from Denpasar, about a 5 to 10 minute drive only.
It is a small peninsula jutting north along Bali's eastern coast with beautiful white sands stretching the length of the coast. Tanjung Benoa is well known for water sports and very nice hotels that offer good value for money but lack some of the size and a few of the facilities of the international chain hotels in neighbouring Nusa Dua. Tanjung Benoa, or the Benoa peninsula just north of Nusa Dua has become much busier over the years and has a wide range of accommodation including prestigious resorts like The Conrad.
The Bali beaches of Uluwatu, Padang Padang, Dreamland and Bingin in southern Bali were once exclusively the haunt of surfers and could only be reached by traveling over rough dirt tracks. Today, many developments have brought roads, comfortable steps and access paths, enabling everyone to enjoy the beauty of these stunning beaches.
Catch some terrific world-class rides when the surf's up. When the water is tranquil these wonderfully white beaches become languidly quiet lagoons lapped by crystal clear water. The busiest beach is still Uluwatu, especially during a spectacular Balinese sunset.
The area is located between Kuta and the airport and a nice place to stay. A little less frantic than Kuta, it's a good place to grab a deck chair and a good book. Tuban beaches are safe for swimming and it is such a perfect place to unwind.
Sophisticated restaurants, fine dining, local designer shops and a cosmopolitan atmosphere - Seminyak is casual and cool with small stylish hotels and villas. Away from the Kuta crowds.Further north Tanah Lot's is famous for flaming sunsets and surfing. The Bali beach is very dangerous as its waters are as wild as its sunsets are dramatic.
Close to the Kuta action but far enough for some down time, Legian Bali beach is less hectic than downtown Kuta but still has a funky nightlife zone. Over the last few years, accommodation has expanded around Legian with many simple family-owned guest houses upgraded; complemented by boutique style hotels and first class hotels. Kuta is literally a five minute taxi ride away.
